BTS's Jimin, the Most Popular K-pop Idol in 2024
BTS's Jimin has risen to the top as the most popular idol in 2024, solidifying his immense popularity. In a vote conducted by the global fan voting site Shining Awards for the "Most Popular K-pop Idols 2024," Jimin garnered a total of 361,090 votes, claiming the number one spot. This marks his second consecutive year at the top, demonstrating his formidable popularity.
Prior to this, Jimin swept the first place in various popularity votes targeting fans worldwide, establishing himself as the undisputed representative artist of K-pop based on global popularity.
Starting with his victory in Debeme's "Kpop Idol of the Year 2023," Jimin has been on a winning streak, including being named the "King Of Kpop 2023" by King Choice for two consecutive years, as well as claiming the top spot in Shining Awards' "King Of Kpop" and "Most Popular Kpop Idols 2023," and Dabeme Pop's "K-pop Center Top 50."
Previously, he was also recognized as one of the "30 Best Boy Band Members" by the UK newspaper The Guardian in 2016, being the only Asian member and the sole representative of BTS, the leading boy band in K-pop, according to the Australian music magazine CULTR, which referred to him as the "BTS FRONTMAN."
Since 2019, Jimin has been listed in the Urban Dictionary as the "King Of Kpop," particularly after releasing his first solo album "FACE" in March last year, which contained autobiographical stories. The title track "Like Crazy" achieved the unprecedented feat of topping the Billboard Main Singles Chart for Korean solo artists.
Following his win as "Best Male Artist" at the "2023 MAMA AWARDS," Jimin recently further cemented his global fame by winning awards like "Viral Video" and "Advertising Media & PR, Media and Entertainment" at the Webby Awards, also known as the "Internet Oscars."
